Questionnaire - April 2003

There is a proposal to add a levy of a few cents, or more to every recordable disc, both CD-R and DVD-R, video tape and audio tape sold in Australia.
In return for paying the levy Australians will be allowed to legally make copies of audio recordings for private use only.

The IDDA is investigating an optional proposal of marketing special labeled media on which a levy has been paid, which allows legitimate private use copying on this media, and still allowing the sale of unlevied media.

Would you pay a few cents extra per disc or tape by voluntarily purchasing levied media for the legal right to make private use copies on that specially labeled and levied media?

Or do you think a universal levy is the only way to allow private use copying?
